TESTING AND EVALUATION
Preschool - 9th grade
Assessment is the first step in working through a student's struggles, and there are several ways to initiate this process. If a student shows signs of learning problems, identifying weak areas is integral to any remedial teaching program. Accurate assessment of your child's strengths and weaknesses is essential to creating an individualized educational plan; it also takes the guesswork out of teaching.
Our assessment pinpoints the reading, writing, and comprehension needs and learning attitudes of your child. This is accomplished through oral and written assessments, observation during testing, student self-evaluation, and parent interview.
This usually takes about 2 hours, and we can share the results and recommend a plan of instruction for your child that day.
"I brought my son to The Story Train based on a recommendation from his teacher. She had voiced concerns regarding his phonics and writing skills. My son was evaluated at The Story Train to determine his actual grade level and academic strengths and weaknesses. We followed the suggestion that instruction take place two hours every week at The Story Train. Within just a few months, I noticed a dramatic improvement in my son's reading and writing skills. In fact, my son's teacher called me specifically to comment on this as well. As far as I can see, bringing my son to The Story Train was the best choice I could have made. I know my son's success can be directly attributed to the instruction he received at The Story Train."
